Jamuary 2026

Music and noise for #Jamuary 2026

  • 2026-01-01 - A couple of lightly tweaked Bitwig presets (Polysynth Atmospheric Lead and Dronality) with a bit of randomness and some keyboard wandering.
  • 202601012 - I pulled out an Iona arp pattern (Akai's SH-101 softsynth) and added Farfisa swirls and out of tune piano. Random, or shall we say intuitive, and I may come back it to play the notes in the right order.
  • 20260104 - Trying out connecting up the Polyend Synth and Elektron Digitone with Bitwig with a touch of Akai's OPx4. The Synth voice is randomising itself so I threw in some Bitwig randomisation on the other tracks.
  • 20260105 - A sort of drone with the OPx4 again. Took a while to fight into something listenable.
  • 20260106 - Pulled up the Iona again for a bit of Berlin. Definitely saved for later.
  • 2026-01-09 - This is something I twiddled with when I bought the Iona plugin so I've pulled it out for Jamuary and made a quick jam on it. The drums and basses are Iona. the lead and arp Jura (Air's Juno 60 softsynth). I do like a nicely emulated Roland or several.
  • 2026011101 - This is The Usual Suspects' JE-8086 and U-he's Zebra 3 beta running in Bitwig with a few complementary patterns on the Force. I like it and I think I'll take it further, but I started it to test a problem I have with my laptop - basically those two plugins make it struggle, which is the source of the dropouts towards the start. Closing Bitwig made it perform better so I think I've identified what it is.
  • 20260114 - I randomly tested the Roland Cloud Legendary synths again and found myself thinking of Gordon's Gin on The Human League's Travelogue LP. So this is 85 seconds of Jupiter 4, SH-2 and Promars through amps in a garage. Man, that would have been fun in 1980.
